Scotie Cousin

Meet Scotie Cousin… the face behind the beaches “critters.”

My art journey began in high school when I discovered red clay by a flooded river and created 100 feet of mini abstract sculptures—unseen and uncaptured. In that moment, thought became my language.

Since then, I’ve used music and art to connect with others. I often doubted my technical skills, not realizing my imagination was on overdrive. This creativity led to a music scholarship in Louisiana, performances in Atlanta's Irish pubs, and experiences in Chicago studios and Florida galleries. My work evolved from sculptures to mosaics, sand art, fine art paintings, yard art, and my beloved Critters.

Each morning, I bless myself with Holy water, thank God for the new day, and ask for guidance to do good. I embrace endless possibilities with butterflies in my stomach.

I’m grateful to create art that resonates with my community and brings smiles. Remember, if you stay true to yourself, you can achieve anything. That’s my story.

Karen’s work—on and off the canvas—is rooted in the belief that art is more than a product; it’s a sacred process. Whether you are an experienced artist or simply curious, she offers guidance that supports creativity as a tool for transformation.

As Ram Dass so beautifully said, “We’re all just walking each other home.” Karen’s art and teachings are an invitation to walk that path with presence, compassion, and creative courage.
